Mixed Medium Master

Ever heard of Jane Perkins?

No...?

Well that's not a surprise.

I hadn't heard of her until tonight, but I've seen many of her mixed media artworks before.  I first discovered her work via pinterest.  But have seen it on many other websites.  I'm so impressed and in love with how Jane uses 'junk' to create amazing masterpieces.

Jane uses mostly found items and doesn't paint or color them.  I would love to make some pieces inspired by her work, but need to hit up about 80 coin operated gum ball machines to get enough nic-knacks to get started.

I hope Jane's work inspires you as it has inspired me!

Crocheting in a Circle

In Fall 2009 I did a co-hosted episode with my friend Angela and we all got a great lesson in crocheting. She just came out with a tutorial on her channel for crocheting in a circle to create a flower. Go check her video out and let her know I sent you :)

Thinking of Buying a Vintage Machine?

I get questions all the time about vintage sewing machine...probably because I own so many. So when I came across a great article with tips of what to look for when buying a vintage machine I knew I should share it.

Blogs and Sewing Supplies

Tonight I found a couple of great blogs and I've been going through their archives for the last hour or two. I love finding new inspirations and ideas! Both blogs have wonderful photos (because I tend to not do a lot of reading on blogs...) and tons of tutorials.
Make It and Love It

Noodlehead

On Noodlehead I found a great post that has photos showing sewing supplies and each item is numbered. Then below the photos is the item name and a short description on some. It's a great post to look at if you are new to sewing and don't know what supplies you need or if you've heard the name of an item several times but aren't sure what it is...now you can look at the photos and find out :)

So go check out these two blogs and let me know what you think. Also let me know if your 'to make' list doubles after looking at the blogs for awhile...I think mine just did...

Buttonholes...the 12th Wonder of the World

...or somewhere around that number.

Buttonholes tend to be a scary thing for beginner (and often times even experienced) sewers. I myself have a small phobia of them. But tonight I found the magical decoder ring tonight!

A Blast From the Past

If you are around my age then you probably remember the Dr. Marten craze of the 90s. This evening I learned, to my surprise, that Dr. Martens are actually 50 years old!

So as a seller and wearer of Dr. Martens I was very interested in this blog post when I came across it. Go check it out for lots of great pictures detailing the boot making process.

Sewing for Costuming

Watching this video reminded me of my senior year when I was doing costuming at my university...however I went to a small-ish school so I didn't get to do things as cool as this guy.
